My Brothas N' My Sistas

My Brothas N' My Sistas I detest racialism, because I regard it as a barbaric thing, whether it comes from a black man or a white man.

Black actors, TAKE NOTE. If you don’t know who these people are, RESEARCH THEM! That’s your homework, lol.

They paved the way for us. Without them and their sacrifices and achievements there would be no space for us to freely create as Black artists.

We stand on their shoulders.

Honor them.

First thought when I say this poster was that I’ve always wanted to see a movie but this story is too important (at least to me) to cast Mary J Blige. I mean come on!
Angela Bassett? Hell yes! She has the chops to pull this off but when has Mary J’s acting ever impressed enough to be worthy of playing Dr. Betty Shabazz? This is that classic Hollywood bullcrap. Cast someone popular so that it’ll get rating. F-U. This is too important for that bullcrap. I would have love to see Regina King, Renee Goldsberry, Joy Bryant, Ella Thomas, Anika Noni Rose, Tika Sumpter or Kimberly Elise. Kimberly Elise would have killed it in my opinion.
Still I may be wrong. Maybe Mary J will just rock it. Maybe she will emote perfectly for this role. Maybe but I doubt it.

Those of us in the community know that had she not had the distinction of being a part of the Inaugural Festivities, she would have not been in the news outside of Chicago.
She would be another faceless victim.
I call bullshit.
